Round Robin Notebook Project

Not too long ago I agreed to participate in a Round Robin Notebook project. Not really Snailmail you might think right now. But in a way it is. It is a creative explosion and you send it by regular mail, which makes it snailmail in my opinion :)

I will show you some of my creative explosions the next few months. This is what I made so far. Heart shaped magazine clippings glued on a notebook in a heart shape. The idea of the clippings I stole from Pinterest (like most things I make). And on the back of the notebook I drew my hand in 3D with colormarkers. I also made a dotpainting consisting of dots in circles. And I glued some nice paper napkins in the notebook with a nice quote.



Niet zo lang geleden nam ik deel aan een Round Robin Notebook project. Ja, maar dat is niet echt snailmail, hoor ik je zeggen. Maar eigenlijk is dat het wel: het is een creatieve uiting en je verstuurt het via de gewone post, dus toch snailmail, vind ik :)

De komende maanden zal ik hier mijn creatieve uitspattingen met betrekking tot dit project tonen. Dit is wat ik tot nu toe maakte. Uit magazines ponste ik hartjes die ik in een hartvorm op de cover van mijn notebook plakte. Ik jatte het idee (zoals veel dingen) van Pinterest. Op de achterkant maakte ik een 3D afdruk van mijn hand met stiften. En ik maakte een cirkeltekening van gekleurde stippen. En als laatste plakte ik een aantal verschillende papieren servetten over elkaar heen en plakte er een leuke quote op.

Recently I have received this lovely booklet which my snailmail pal Priscilla vd P made for me. I just love every little thing about it: the bright green color, the vintage pictures, the lovely sticky notes. She really made an effort to make this and that's why I want to show you all how great it is.


Onlangs ontving ik dit schattige boekje dat mijn snailmailvriendin Priscilla vd P voor me maakte. Ik vind echt alles hieraan leuk: de groene kleur, the vintage plaatjes en de schattige sticky notes. Ze heeft echt haar best gedaan om er iets moois van te maken en daarom wil ik jullie dit laten zien.

The last few months I have received lots and lots of snailmail which I can't all show you now, but what I do, is when I've answered a letter, I will make a picture of the letter and the crafty gifts and put the picture in the envelop. This way I can use the crafty gifts, but I will still be able to see who sent it to me. So this picture shows all the pictures I have printed in December and January last.


Afgelopen paar maanden heb ik heel veel snailmail ontvangen en dat kan ik jullie nu niet meer allemaal laten zien. Maar wat ik dus doe om mijn snailmail te archiveren, is foto's maken van het complete ontvangen poststuk dus de brief, de envelop en ook de handgemaakte kadootjes. De gemaakte foto stop ik dan bij de envelop en de brief, zodat ik later weet wat ik van wie gehad heb. De kadootjes gebruik ik uiteraard, want het is zonde om die ongebruikt in een doos te laten liggen. Deze foto laat zien hoeveel foto's ik al geprint heb over de maanden december en januari.

Snailmail

Since December last I'm into snailmailing. What's that? Well, let me explain it a little. Snailmail is also known as paper mail/postal mail/land mail or simply mail or post. Snailmail is also a term used in reference to penpalling. Snailmail penpals are those penpals that communicate with one another through the postal system, rather than on the internet which has become the more common medium. Some people also use paper mail to send (handmade) little gifts to one another. And that's what I am talking about: penpalling but with the extra of sending small gifts. It's becoming more and more popular so that's why I started (yet another) blog: this one. Through this blog I want to show the world (or at least that part of the world that is really interested in snailmail) nice crafty gifts I have sent and received. Because most of the gifts I receive are too gorgeous just to keep for myself. I want to show you all those nice things. So this will more or less become a photo blog in stead of a written blog. So from now on, this will be the place where I will post pictures of my snailmail. And if you'd like to see how some things were made? Although I already have about 20 Dutch snailmailpals, I’m still searching for some snailmailpals from abroad, so don’t hesitate to contact me.


Sinds afgelopen december ben ik helemaal gek van snailmailen. Wat is dat? Nou laat ik je dat even in het kort uitleggen. Snailmail is eigenlijk gewone post die NIET via internet verstuurd wordt, maar nog via de ouderwetse manier. Nee, niet zo oud dat het via de postduif gaat, maar het scheelt niet veel. Je stuurt het gewoon per post op. Snailmail heeft dus betrekking op wat ook bekend staat als penvrienden, maar tegenwoordig heeft het woord snailmail nog een extra betekenis gekregen, namelijk brieven schrijven met iets extra. Je schrijft een brief, vrolijkt de envelop op en stuurt kleine (handgemaakte) kadootjes mee. Het begint steeds populairder te worden en daarom ben ik deze blog gestart. Ik wil jullie namelijk laten zien wat voor mooie creaties ik allemaal ontvangen en ook wil ik jullie laten zien wat ik zelf voor mijn snailmailvriendinnen maak. Ik wil jullie daar mee inspireren, althans dat hoop ik. Deze blog is dus eigenlijk een soort van fotoblog met slechts een klein stukje tekst om de foto te beschrijven.
